Workers' Compensation

Media Services workers’ compensation department acts as an intermediary for our clients, employees and insurance claims administrator. We are committed to working closely with our clients for purposes of accident prevention. We provide all the necessary tools to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations and help clients maintain a safe work environment for the workers. If accidents should occur regardless of all the efforts to prevent accidents, we are there to assist clients with the accident reporting process.

Production Staff Guide & Material Review

The Injury / Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) provided to you by Media Services is based on the General Industry Standards 1910. Even though OSHA does not have a written Entertainment Industry Standard we are required to follow 1910 General Industry Standards. For more information and definitions of this standard please contact Angela Plasschaert, Risk & Safety Consultant for Media Services.

The Injury / Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) that you have received is designed to recognize your employees’ job description and their role in maintaining safety for this production.

Safety Program

With the help of our Risk & Safety Consultants we provide assistance to clients with administration of the Injury/Illness Prevention Program.

The Daily Maintenance

It takes only a few minutes a day to complete. Documentation is key. It will be the only way to prove that your production has followed proper procedures while maintaining a safe work environment. Make this program pat of your production box.

Safety files should contain the following documents for each production date:

Location Inspection:

This is a physical inspection of the work site. Use a checklist where you can note potentially hazardous area requiring your immediate attention.

The Risk & Safety Consultant may conduct random on-site inspections to help you to identify unsafe conditions for the purpose of preventing injury and/or to prevent potential OSHA citation.

Safety Meetings are a 5 Step Process

An Employee Safety Meeting can be found in the IIPP manual. The following will explain how to prepare your 5-minute meeting agenda each production day.

Conduct a location inspection when you arrive on set. List any safety hazards or concerns for the work site and talk about preventative measures. Use the Studio Location Inspection Checklist or Location Inspection Checklist.
Review the day’s schedule. Remind the crew about special effects, stunts, environmental conditions, etc. that may be present at the work site.
Remind crew to report safety concerns to an appointed safety manager. Identify this person at the meeting.
Have each person in attendance sign the safety meeting worksheet for that day. Should crewmembers be absent from the meeting, be sure this information is reviewed with them upon their return.
Acknowledge the crew’s efforts for maintaining a safe work site.

Keep a copy of the Acknowledgment forms for your record.

Contact the Risk & Safety Department to review your production details.

Media Services requires a minimum of 72 hours advanced notice of all “special activities” and productions in foreign countries. (Special Activities are described as but not limited to stunts, aerial photography, underwater photography, pyrotechnics, and use of non-domestic animals, water craft or air craft.)

Report all accidents to our work comp department by telephone IMMEDIATELY. Call 30-440-9675.

Or, you may report accidents electronically by completing a MS Accident Report form
